Grants and Fundraising Campaigns

REQUIREMENTS:

The Limb Care Foundation does its best to support the financial needs of patients across the country. LCF grants are only considered for patients in need of a limb-related DMEPOS device including upper and lower extremity prosthetic and orthotic devices.

If a grant request is outside of our current operating budget, we can setup a fundraising campaign on behalf of the requestee. 100% of the proceeds made for a campaign will go towards meeting that financial goal. We only accept 4 campaigns at one time and we will continue to fundraise for every patient until that goal is met.

Meet CandacE

Location: Anderson, SC

Clinic: Advanced Prosthetics

Medical Need: Prosthetic Fingers

Candace is a self-described "people person" who has a passion for helping others, including raising her 2 nieces.

However, tragedy struck Candace in 2020 when a bacterial infection spread throughout her body leading to septic shock and even coma. After a yearlong bout with this disease, Candace had to make the difficult and life-saving decision to amputate her left leg and multiple fingers.

Candace's insurance has approved of her prosthetic leg, but unfortunately, they denied her request for prosthetic fingers because her insurance considers these devices to be "cosmetic".

Fundraising Goal: $3,000

As an organization, the Limb Care Foundation understands the need to wear a prosthetic that is discrete, yet functional.

The Limb Care Foundation is offering a matching donation with the goal of raising $3,000 for 3- prosthetic fingers.

Meet Randy

Location: San Francisco, CA

Clinic: National Seating & Mobility

Medical Need: Motorized Wheelchair

Randy is a "paraplegic," which means he has little to no muscle control from the neck down. Despite having limited strength in his arms or legs, he was provided with a manual wheelchair that he is unable to use because his arms are too weak to control the wheels. Randy is 100% dependent on others to wheel him to his appointments and is desperately seeking to reclaim his independence.

The one thing that will help Randy achieve a greater level of independence is a powered wheelchair. With a powered wheelchair, he can travel independently with public transportation and start to enjoy life again.

The Limb Care Foundation is asking you to consider donating to help Randy obtain this wheelchair. Your donation is 100% deductible, and all proceeds made specifically to "Randy" will go towards our fundraising goal of $5,900. Thank you for your consideration.

Fundraising Goal: $5,900

As an organization, the Limb Care Foundation understands the importance of DME to become more independent

Meet Taylor

Location: Cooper Mountain, CO

Clinic: Levitate

Medical Need: Bilateral prosthetic legs

Taylor, a 24-year-old adaptive snowboarder with Adaptive Action Sports in Copper Mountain, CO, began her journey two years ago after receiving below-knee prosthetic legs in March 2020. Despite financial challenges, she lived in a remodeled minivan during her first full winter in Colorado. Taylor's season included notable achievements, such as winning bronze and silver medals at The Hartford Ski Spectacular. She also competed in open races, even becoming the first adaptive snowboarder on a black diamond run at Snowshoe Mountain.

Facing prosthetic leg issues, health concerns, and a van break-in, Taylor's resilience stood out. In the off-season, a car accident caused further setbacks, but she continued training and embraced activities like jiu-jitsu. Taylor collaborated with Levitate, a prosthetic company, helping amputees access running blades. Levitate's mission and the impact of their events on the amputee community became significant aspects of Taylor's journey.

Grateful for unexpected turns, Taylor seeks support to replace her prosthetic feet and running blades. Her story reflects resilience, dedication, and a commitment to inspiring others in the disabled community. Despite challenges, Taylor remains determined to make a positive impact and continue her mission.

Fundraising Goal: $6,000
